"take your shirt...twist round your head like a helicopter"

this weekend has been a feast of food and fun.

sometimes my friday's and saturday's in houston only reaffirm my belief that I was insane to move southwest...but this weekend I discovered: 2 great restaurants near mi casa (Thai Spice and Mai's...my chopsticks have never been happier),1 cute boy, a community feeling in my apartment complex, and that I am missed by my TFA friends...which makes it a great deal more fun to hang out with them in silly clubs downtown.

my satisfaction with the restaurants was simple: I'd been craving good spicy noodles since I got to Texas...the good folks at Thai Spice were gracious enough to satisfy me. I'm not too familiar with Vietnemese cuisine...but I do know my tofu and Mai's garlic tofu rocked my world.

The cute boy and the community in my apartment complex are intrinsically (I cannot spell today) bound. Saturday morning Dani and I cooked breakfast (or rather Dani cooked...I grated cheese) with our new neighbor across the way, Alec. Now Alec is a gloriously entertaining gay man in his thirties who has dabbled in many careers including, but not limited to; interior design, beauty pagent coaching and funeral direction.

After breakfast we passed the morning (or early afternoon) outside his door...smoking cigarettes and/or gossiping about our neighbors (montrose being the perfect place to be nosy...there's enough dirt to build a ski slope in my little complex).

After cleaning my apartment I found myself sitting outside Alec's door once more...this time joined by Richard...our totally buff...on his way to play for the Dallas Cowboys but hurt his leg, latino maintaince man. He was constantly surprising the entire evening...his knowledge of ani difranco, his appetite for tofu...all very impressive. I did entertain the thought that he might be gay...but I ended up concluding that; while he might have a little crush on Alec...he still fashions himself a heterosexual.

After dinner I went downtown to the local Irish bar that never plays Irish music to meet up with my TFA pals who had been to a hob-nobbin event that I had elected to skip. They were all so excited to see me that they all but convinced me to stay away for another long spell so as to receive the same warm welcome.

I love dancing to the booty music (and Cabo specializes in booty music) and Justin owed me drinks...so my night was rounding out nicely. Back home I walked through the gate to find Richard and Alec still sitting outside gabbing. We popped popcorn and waited for Dani to return from her blind date (bets were placed on whether or not she'd be alone). All in all a great day...

Richard is quite a cutie...and he asked me more than once if he could accompany me on the cruise...but I'm not willing to trade in my smart, funny, lawyer-to-be who adores me for a big hot man who might want to hit it with one or more of my friendly neighbors.

Rebecca arrives in three days...whopee!
